The belt along the 109 km Ahmedabad–Dholera Greenfield Expressway (NE-8), which runs from the Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhej in Ahmedabad to Adhelai in Bhavnagar district and passes through the Dholera Special Investment Region (PIB; DeshGujarat).
The four-lane, access-controlled expressway opened to the public for testing in February 2026 and was formally inaugurated on 31 March 2026 (PIB; Financial Express). Its interchanges include Sarkhej, Sindhrej (around km 22), Vejalaka (around km 48), Pipli (with a 9.56 km link road to the Dholera International Airport site) and Ambli, which gives direct access to the Dholera SIR (DeshGujarat). PIB puts the Ahmedabad–Dholera trip at 83 km and about 45 minutes, against 100 km and 2 hours 15 minutes before. Status: operational.
The expressway has a 30 m median to allow widening to eight lanes, and 30 m of right of way has been acquired for a planned semi-high-speed rail corridor alongside it (PIB). Status: proposed (rail); the widening is a design provision, not a scheduled project.
Much of the corridor is agricultural or village land. Verify title, land records, land use and Dholera SIR or AUDA development-plan zoning, any acquisition notices and Gujarat RERA registration (gujrera.gujarat.gov.in) where applicable, and take independent professional advice where needed.
