The old-Lucknow East–West axis from Charbagh via Chowk to Vasant Kunj, the route of Lucknow Metro Phase 1B (Indian Express).
Phase 1A, Munshipulia to CCS Airport, is operational (The Hindu, quoting the Union Minister). Status: operational.
Phase 1B is an 11.165 km corridor with 12 stations (7 underground, 5 elevated) and an interchange at Charbagh, costing ₹5,801.05 crore shared 50:50 by the Centre and the state. The Union Cabinet approved it in August 2025 and the UP Cabinet approved the tripartite MoU in May 2026 (The Hindu; Indian Express). Status: approved. For the 6.70 km Charbagh–Chowk underground package, Afcons was declared lowest bidder at ₹1,383.30 crore on 5 October 2026; the contract had not been awarded at that report (Metro Rail Today). Status: tendered.
Underground construction is expected to run for several years in a dense area. Verify title, approvals and UP RERA registration (up-rera.in) where applicable, and take independent professional advice where needed.
