Central Varanasi between Varanasi Junction (Cantt) and Godowlia. Godowlia is about 700 m from Kashi Vishwanath Temple (Times of India).
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways lists the 3.85 km Varanasi ropeway, under the Parvatmala programme, as under construction (PIB, MoRTH Year End Review). Times of India reported on 30 September 2026 that it was about 95% complete, with five stations including Cantt, Kashi Vidyapeeth, Rathyatra and Godowlia, a 16-minute journey, and operations expected around Dev Deepawali (24 November). Status: under construction; the opening date is a reported target.
The ropeway is not yet operational. The old city may have heritage and building bye-law restrictions; check with the Varanasi Development Authority before buying. Verify title, approvals and UP RERA registration (up-rera.in) where applicable, and take independent professional advice where needed.
